It’s all about the Names! Names Part One

by Bill Brady

It’s all about the names!

  • God’s Names.
  • Each name appears for the first time in scripture at a specific time and place.

Each name is revealed to each of us at a specific time in our life.

  • When it is revealed we have been given a promise by God.
  • It is a now a promise that one day we will become One with that name.
  • And come to function in that name of God.

There is a progression to coming to function in a name of God.

  • After the name is revealed to us we are able to receive the promise of that name.
  • Then we seek to enter into that name.
  • Then we enter into that name.
  • Then we inherit that name.
  • Then we possess that name.
  • With possession of a name we become the form of that name.
  • And fully function in that name.

A name is form that reveals function.

  • A name reveals who a person is.
  • And what that person does.

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”  Genesis 1:1

  • “God” is the Name “Elohim”.
  • It is a plural noun.
  • Elohim is one of the Names of God.

“The beginning” is a Name for a person.

  • “The Beginning” is one of the Names of Jesus.
  • “Jesus” is one of the Names for the Son of God.

Jesus said, “I AM the beginning and the end.”

  • “I AM” is “YHVH” one of the Names of God.
  • “The beginning and the end” are two letters of the alphabet.
  • Aleph Tav in Hebrew and Alpha and Omega in Greek.
  • The first and the last letters of each alphabet.

So Genesis 1:1 reads:

  • Functioning in Jesus’ Name “The Beginning” Elohim created …
  • Or Elohim created by functioning in the name “Jesus”.
  • It’s all about the Name(s)!

Elohim is 3 names of  3 persons.

  • God the Father
  • God the Son
  • God the Spirit.

In the first two verses of Genesis we are introduced to two of those Names.

  • The Son of God creates in verse 1.
  • And the Spirit of God hovers in verse two.

“This is generations of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the YHVH God made the earth and the heavens… ”  Genesis 2:4

  • This is the first mention of YHVH in the scriptures.
  • We now have the revelation that Jesus is “YHVH God”.
  • This was hidden from men until the name “Jesus” was revealed to man.
  • The name “Jesus” is YHSVH which is “YHVH Saves”.

You and I already know the Son of God by His name “Jesus”.

  • Reading Genesis 2:4 we now know that Jesus the Son is YHVH God.
  • We are saved by believing in the name YHVH.

“And Adam knew his wife again, and she bore a son and named him Seth, “For God has appointed another seed for me instead of Abel, whom Cain killed.” And as for Seth, to him also a son was born; and he named him Enosh. Then men began to call on the name of the Lord.”  Genesis 4:25-26

‘For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”’  Romans 10:13

  • Calling on the name of LORD = believing in the name of the LORD.

“And he believed in the LORD, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.”  Genesis 15:6.

  • Abram believed in the name of the LORD.
  • Believing in a name is the same as taking God at His word.
  • When we take God at His word we receive the promise of a name.
  • And we are counted by God as being righteous.
  • Righteousness is the opposite of sin.

Abram believed in the YHVH name of God.

  • He believed in the form and function of that name.
  • From that day on God considered Abram to no longer be a sinner.
  • Because Abram continued to believe in the name YHVH.

Our faith journey consists of believing in one name of God after another.

  • Over time we become more and more like God.
  • And come to function more and more as God functions.
  • As we come to function in more and more of His names.
  • Simply by faith.

“Faith without works is dead”.

  • Why?
  • Because believing in the form and function of a name of God is mental agreement.
  • God’s enemies have mental agreement as to who He is and what He does.
  • But they have chosen not to become like Him or act like Him.

Faith without works is dead.

  • Unless it also results in actually becoming that name.
  • And coming to function in that name.
  • Functioning in a name of God is “working”.
  • And is the only evidence of true faith.
