The Journey to Overcome and Become

by Bill Brady

You are on  journey to overcome and become.

What does it mean to overcome?

  • It means to become like Jesus as Christ.
  • Christ = King = Messiah.

Jesus overcame the devil during 40 days in the wilderness.

  • Jesus never sinned.
  • Jesus said of the devil, “He has nothing in Me.”

Think of it.

  • You will become sinless.
  • Free from anything within you that the devil can work on to cause you to sin.
  • Free from any legal ground for the devil to be able to accuse you.

You become free from anything that drives you to fall to temptation to sin.

  • Free from any driving influence upon you by any of the devil’s coworkers.
  • On earth and in any high place above the earth.
  • So, while you are still tempted, you do not have to sin.
  • You do not want to sin.
  • Eventually, you become free from temptation to sin.

So, to overcome means to become free from sin.

  • The wages of sin is death.
  • Overcoming sin you then overcome any further entrance of death into your life.
  • And begin to remove death from your life.
  • Along with all of the effects of the presence of death in your life.
  • And in your body, soul and spirit.

Eventually death and its effects will be removed from your life.

  • All that will remain will be immortality.
  • And the glorious freedom of the children of God.
  • Freedom from everything having to do with sin and death.

This will all happen before you die.

  • You will not die.
  • Unless you chose to die as a martyr.
  • You are then just like Jesus as an overcomer = King / Christ / Messiah.

This is what it means to overcome.

  • Overcomers begin by becoming an overcomer.
  • Then they continue to overcome.
  • Until they have overcome all that there is to overcome.

What do I mean by saying that you are on a journey into becoming?

  • You are on a journey to become one of the 144 thousand.
  • You are on a journey to become the bride of Christ.
  • You are on a journey of preparation to become Jesus’ wife.
  • And become one with Him as the One New Man, the New Adam.

Overcomers are clothed in white garments.

  • The 144 k are clothed in white garments.
  • Therefore, 144 k are overcomers.

Then I looked, and behold, a Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with Him one hundred and forty-four thousand, having His Father’s name written on their foreheads.  And I heard a voice from heaven, like the voice of many waters, and like the voice of loud thunder. And I heard the sound of harpists playing their harps.  They sang as it were a new song before the throne, before the four living creatures, and the elders; and no one could learn that song except the hundred and forty-four thousand who were redeemed from the earth.  These are the ones who were not defiled with women, for they are virgins. These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These were redeemed from among men, being firstfruits to God and to the Lamb.  And in their mouth was found no deceit, for they are without fault before the throne of God.”  Rev 14:1-5

The 144 thousand are shown standing on Mount Zion with the Lamb.

  • Father’s name is written on their foreheads.
  • They have Father’s nature in them.

They are virgins.

  • They are not defiled with women.
  • So they are male virgins = adult virgin sons.
  • This includes women believers standing in their sonship.
  • Free from sexual sin.
  • Free from worship of any other gods.
  • = Immorality and idolatry.

They follow the Lamb wherever He goes.

  • This means that they are disciples who responded to His call to come follow Me.
  • And continue to follow Him wherever He goes.

They are redeemed from among men.

There is no deceit in their mouth.

  • They do not lie.

They are without fault before the throne of God.

  • Blameless.
  • Unable to be accused by the accuser.

These 144 thousand stand on top of Mount Zion.

  • They stand and look up.
  • Looking up they see the bride, New Jerusalem coming down out of heaven.

“Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea.  Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.  And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.  And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”  Rev 21:1-4

  •  New Jerusalem (NJ) is the holy city.
  • NJ is prepared as a bride for her husband.

NJ is the tabernacle of God.

  • NJ is God dwelling with men.
  • NJ is the fulfillment of the feast of tabernacles.

The 144 thousand see the bride already fully prepared.

  • They are not seeing the bride that is in the process of being prepared.
  • They are seeing the bride just before her marriage.

So, we see that the 144 thousand are not the same as the bride.

  • The 144 thousand are able to see the bride who is fully prepared for marriage.
  • You become what you behold.

It is a progression.

  • The 144 thousand are the overcomers.
  • Overcomers become the bride.
  • The bride becomes the wife.
