What is the Purpose of the Book of Revelation?

To reveal Jesus as King to us.

• “The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants—things which must shortly take place.”  Rev 1:1

That we should be blessed.

• “Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near.”  Rev 1:3

To bring glory and dominion to Jesus Christ.

• “To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood,  and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever.” Rev 1:5-6

That we might see many things that are revealed in the book.

• The command to see, “Behold” is used 25 times in the book.
• Each time we are being told to look and see some truth.

That we might understand various mysteries.

• The word “mystery” is used 4 times in the book.
• The mystery of the 7 angels and the 7 churches.
• The mystery of God which is the overall hidden plan of God.
• Twice of the mystery of Babylon.

That we might overcome and receive our full inheritance.

• “He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.”  Rev 21:7

That we might come up to the throne of God and see what is to come.

• “Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.”        Rev 4:1

I have only taken you as far as Rev 4:1.

• There are 22 chapters in the Revelation of Jesus Christ.
• This is the name of the book that is given in the book itself.
• The overall purpose of the book is that we may see Jesus / Yeshua as Christ.
• Christ = King = Messiah.

And that we may become what we see.

• We become like Jesus as Christ by becoming sons of God ruling / governing as kings.
• We become one with Him and rule with him.
• We become the one new man, the new Adam
• We bring all things in heaven and on earth back under His / our  rule as King.

This is the purpose of the Revelation of Jesus Christ!
