“Imagination is more important than knowledge.” Albert Einstein
Imagination is the ability to see something that is not actually in front of you to be seen.
- Whether it already exists or not.
- You use your imagination to see something that you have seen before.
- You use your imagination to see something that you have never seen before.
Seeing something that you have never seen before.
- It can be something that someone else has seen and described to you.
- Their description of what they saw allows you to use imagination to see the same thing.
- It can be something that no one has ever seen before.
- Something that does not yet exist anywhere in all of creation.
In this case what you are seeing is a blueprint for something that you will create.
- This is how God brought creation into being.
- This is how Solomon created the first Temple.
- God gave David a blueprint.
- Solomon built according to the blueprint.
The highest use of imagination involves creating both the original blueprint and the thing.
- This is the highest kind of creating as God.
- God creates the blueprint.
- God then creates the thing according to the blueprint.
Creating in this highest way is creating as God or Word.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.” John 1:1-4
- Being The Word of God is being fully God.
- Being The Word of God gives us the ability to create the blueprint and then to create the thing.
Being the Word of God includes having Life in us.
- Life in the sense that we create things made of Life as opposed to things made of Death.
- The Life that is within one who has become The Word of God is the Light of men.
There are Stumbling Blocks to fully functioning in imagination.
First and foremost is the fear that your imagination will see evil and lead you to do evil.
- This Stumbling Block is removed by simply taking Dominion over your imagination.
- This is a choice of your will.
Another Stumbling Block is seeing imagination as involving things that are not real.
- This is seeing imagination as unproductive and not relating to reality or truth.
- This sees imagination as useless and as the opposite of work.
- This Stumbling Block is removed by seeing that imagination is at the core of creation.
- Creation is the highest form of work.
- It is also the first form of work.
“In the Beginning God created the Heavens and the Earth.”
The largest Stumbling Block is seeing imagination as being a replacement for Scripture.
- This Stumbling Block sees scripture as a guide for everything that we do.
- If it isn’t in scripture don’t do it.
There are several answers to this Stumbling Block.
- The first is to to see a more positive version of “If it isn’t in scripture don’t do it.”
- This is, “If it isn’t prohibited by scripture and conscience go ahead and do it.”
Scripture has many purposes / functions.
- One is guidance.
- Another is to inform our conscience.
- Another is to be a Door to encounter.
- Encounter involves the full flow of imagination.
The highest purpose / function of the Word of God is to become The Word of God!
- When we become the Word of God we create as God.
- This is our highest function.
- Creating out of nothing.
- By first creating the Blueprint using our imagination.
- Then by creating the thing according to the Blueprint by using our imagination.
“All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.”
- All things that are made are created / made using imagination.
- I really enjoyed creating this article.
- Creating using imagination is fun!
- And a source of joy.

Scripture can actually become a Stumbling Block.
- This happens when we have put God in a box created by our understanding of scripture.
- This is another form of Religion and the religious spirit.
- The ultimate purpose of scripture is for us to come to function like God as god.
There is a paradox with respect to the highest purpose of scripture.
- We have to let go of scripture to do this.
- Scripture is like training wheels on a bicycle that we are learning to ride.
- In order to ride with full freedom we have to take the training wheels off of the bicycle.
What do I mean by this?
- At some point our relationship with the members of the Godhead takes over from scripture.
- At a later point our mature function as god takes over from relationship with the Godhead.
- We no longer have to see the Godhead doing something before we do it.
- We have seen what the Godhead does and are able to do it at will and with wisdom.
At no point in this progression are we to function in unrighteousness.
- Scripture and conscience informed by scripture still function as a boundary.
- We don’t go outside this boundary.
- Having become Righteousness we have no desire to go outside the boundary.
- And we won’t.
- This is because our being is within the many Names of God and the many Names that are found in scripture.
“In Him we live and move and have our being.”
