There are 2 mentions of Transfiguration in scripture:
- Moses’ Transfiguration
- Yeshua’s Transfiguration
There are equivalent Transfigurations to these 2 kinds of Transfiguration.
There is a 5th kind of Transfiguration that I will introduce at the end of this article. Moses’ Transfiguration “So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. And he would return to the camp, but his servant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, did not depart from the tabernacle.” Exodus 33:11 NKJV “Now it was so, when Moses came down from Mount Sinai (and the two tablets of the Testimony were in Moses’ hand when he came down from the mountain), that Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone while he talked with Him.” Exodus 34:29 NKJV “So when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone, and they were afraid to come near him.” Exodus 34:30 NKJV “And when Moses had finished speaking with them, he put a veil on his face.” Exodus 34:33 NKJV “And whenever the children of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses’ face shone, then Moses would put the veil on his face again, until he went in to speak with Him.” Exodus 34:35 NKKJ “I speak with him face to face, Even plainly, and not in dark sayings; And he sees the form of the Lord. Why then were you not afraid To speak against My servant Moses?” Numbers 34:35 NKJV “But since then there has not arisen in Israel a prophet like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face, … “ Deuteronomy 34:10 NKJV “… unlike Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the end of what was passing away.” 2 Corinthians 3:13 NLKV Yeshua’s Transfiguration “Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, led them up on a high mountain by themselves; and He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light. And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him.” Matthew 17:1-3 NKJV ‘Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John, and led them up on a high mountain apart by themselves; and He was transfigured before them. His clothes became shining, exceedingly white, like snow, such as no launderer on earth can whiten them. And Elijah appeared to them with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus. Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good for us to be here; and let us make three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah”— because he did not know what to say, for they were greatly afraid. And a cloud came and overshadowed them; and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son. Hear Him!” Suddenly, when they had looked around, they saw no one anymore, but only Jesus with themselves.’ Mark 17:2-8 NKJV
- Peter, James & John
- Moses & Elijah
- Tabernacles
- A Cloud
- Glory
‘Now it came to pass, about eight days after these sayings, that He took Peter, John, and James and went up on the mountain to pray. As He prayed, the appearance of His face was altered, and His robe became white and glistening. And behold, two men talked with Him, who were Moses and Elijah, who appeared in glory and spoke of His decease which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. But Peter and those with him were heavy with sleep; and when they were fully awake, they saw His glory and the two men who stood with Him. Then it happened, as they were parting from Him, that Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good for us to be here; and let us make three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah”—not knowing what he said. While he was saying this, a cloud came and overshadowed them; and they were fearful as they entered the cloud. And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son. Hear Him!” When the voice had ceased, Jesus was found alone. But they kept quiet, and told no one in those days any of the things they had seen.’ Luke 9:28 – 36 NKJV ‘Now it came to pass, about eight days after these sayings, that He took Peter, John, and James and went up on the mountain to pray. As He prayed, the appearance of His face was altered, and His robe became white and glistening. There are 2 Transfigurations that are mentioned in scripture: 1) Moses’ Transfiguration & 2) Yeshua’s Transfiguration Moses’ Transfiguration is mentioned in Exodus, Numbers, Deuteronomy & 2 Corinthians. Yeshua’s Transfiguration is mentioned in Matthew, Mark, Luke & 2 Peter. There are similarities & differences between these 2 Transfigurations.
- This is because Yeshua’s Transfiguration is patterned on Moses’ Transfiguration.
- Moses was present for Yeshua’s Transfiguration.
Similarities:
- Both occurred on a Mountain.
- Both Moses’ & Yeshua’s faces were lit up.
- Both Moses & Yeshua had a face-to-face relationship with God.
Differences:
- They occurred on different Mountains: 1) Mt. Sinai & 2) likely on Mt. Sion.
- Moses’ face lit up & Yeshua’s whole body & clothing lit up.
- Moses was alone & Yeshua was with Moses, Elijah, Peter, James & John.
- All of Israel saw Moses’ face lit up & only Peter, James & John saw Yeshua lit up.
- Afterwards, Moses put a veil over his face & Yeshua did not.
- Moses’ Transfiguration was on Pentecost & Yeshu’s relates to Tabernacles
- Moses was transfigured as a Servant while Yeshua was transfigured as The Son.
- Yeshua’s Transfiguration was the end of a progressive revelation of his Glory.
- The Father spoke at Yeshua’s Transfiguration.
There were 3 times that The Father said, “This is my beloved Son.”
- At Yeshua’s Baptism.
- At Yeshua’s Transfiguration.
- At Yeshua’s Resurrection / Begetting as The Son.
Today there are 2 Transfiguration experiences available:
- Transfiguration like Moses’ Transfiguration is experienced as a Servant
- Transfiguration like Yeshua’s Transfiguration is experienced as a Son
These 2 Transfiguration experiences have different purposes:
- Transfiguration like Moses’ is a spontaneous sign in The Kingdom Age.
- Transfiguration like Yeshua’s is a level of maturity of a Son in The Age of Rest.
There have been 3 kinds of Transfiguration:
- Moses’ Transfiguration
- Yeshua’s Transfiguration
- Transfigurations today that are like Moses’ Transfiguration
There will be 5 kinds of Transfiguration:
- Moses’ Transfiguration
- Yeshua’s Transfiguration
- Our Transfiguration like Moses’ Transfiguration
- Our Transfiguration like Yeshua’s Transfiguration
- Transfiguration of The One New Man
The 2 past Transfigurations resulted from 2 kinds of face-to-face relationships:
- Moses’ was transfigured knowing Yeshua face-to-face before he had a body.
- Yeshua was transfigured knowing The Father in Oneness.
Transfiguration today that is like Moses’:
- It seems to occur as a sign while speaking to large crowds.
- I believe that this sign points to Transfiguration that is like Yeshua’s.
- Oneness with The Father dwelling in him doing The Works of The Son
Yeshua’s Transfiguration required one relationship: Transfiguration today that is like Yeshua’s requires 2 relationships:
- Oneness with Yeshua The Son as a Son
- Oneness with The Father dwelling in us doing the Works of The Son
